I was on the other side of this first.
Before I built software for the commercial vehicle industry, I was the one stuck using it. As head of digital at the UK’s largest independent CV parts factor, I ran an operation on software the whole industry had quietly accepted as good enough.
We built our own instead. It worked well enough that it became a company: Autovolt. Then we noticed the same pattern on the other side of the counter: workshops and fleets managing PMI schedules on paper, or with tools built by people who’d never stood on a workshop floor. So we built Autocheck.
